They came into New York and took a train back to Waterbury. The ship's log shows that he was intending to meet his brother, James, in Brooklyn. The log showed that he came to the country with $10 in his pocket.45,46,5,6,17 He was a worker in the Waterbury Acid Works on 3 October 1906 at Waterbury, Connecticut.47 He was a fireman in August 1907 at Waterbury, Connecticut.48 He was a landholder in 1909 at Grallagh Upper, Youghal, County Waterford, Ireland.49 He was a worker in the acid shop on South Main St. at Waterbury, Connecticut.17 He was also known as Healey.50

The Connecticut “Military Census” was taken in 1917–1918 at the direction of the General Assembly with an eye to assessing manpower available for war and other resources in the state. The census included surveys on agriculture, factories, and even automobiles, but the forms included here are questionnaires filled out by men ages 16 and over. The census was much more than a simple name count, and these questionnaires asked for details in a number of areas: name, post office address, trade or profession, agemarital status, number of dependents, citizenship,military service, and physical disability.They also asked men to report on various skills, including whether they could ride a horse or drive a team, ride a motorcycle, operate a wireless, handle a steam engine or a boat, or swim well. This form showed that Andrew was 46 years old, measured at 5'10'' tall, and weighed 165 lbs. He was married and had 7 people depending on him for support. His occupation was described as a millwright. He knew how to ride and handle a team of horses. He could not drive an automobile or motorcycle, understand telegraphy or operate electrical machinery among other things. He was also not a good swimmer and had eye trouble.53

Healey was held Saturday morning from the home, 80 Kelsey Street, to St. Francis Church where a solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Healey (his nephew). Rev. David O'Keefe was deacon and Rev. John McTeague was sub-deacon. During the mass a musical program was played by Mrs. Robert Birt with William O'Brien as soloist. Pallbearers were his cousin Edward Healey, nephew James Healey, son Andrew Healey, nephew Thomas Murphy, John Quinn, and Anthony Rakich on 30 December 1939 at Saint Francis Xavier Church, Waterbury, Connecticut.7 He was buried on 30 December 1939 at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, Connecticut, Rev. Father Healey said the prayers at the grave, assisted by Rev. Father McTeague.2,7

     Thomas Healy was baptized on 3 January 1875 at Clashmore Parish Church, Clashmore and Kinsalbeg Parish, County Waterford, Ireland. By the Reverend James Henneberry. Sponsors were Thomas Healy and Brigid Long.10
     Thomas Healy was born on 3 January 1875 at Drumgullane Townland, Clashmore, County Waterford, Ireland. The birth was registered on 4 February 1875 by Margaret Heally, mother.11,12,13 He was also known to have been born on 14 November 1880 at Waterford, Ireland.14,15,16,17,18 He also went by the name of Tom.19
     Thomas Healy and Catherine Donovan resided in 1901 at Youghal, Ireland.20
     Thomas Healy appears as Thomas Healy, age 22, in the census of April 1901 at Drumgullane Townland, Youghal, County Waterford, Ireland,in the household of John Healy as a farmer.21
     His intended destination was Waterbury, and he arrived at the Port of New York aboard the R.M. S Lucania. He was intending to go to his brother, James, in Waterbury. An entry for him was noted on 20 July 1901 coming into New York to see his brother, James. But, the entry has a line written through it as if he had changed his mind and was no longer on the ship. The latter date, September 13, seems more feasible on 13 September 1901.22 Thomas Healy was a sponsor at the baptism of Andrew Joseph Healy, his nephew, on 23 October 1904 at Saint Francis Xavier Church, Waterbury, Connecticut; Sponsors were Thomas Healey, his paternal uncle, and Catherine McCormack and he was baptized by John Fleming.23
     Thomas Healy married Catherine Donovan in 1909.24

     With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted its third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registration, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888.
