He was a corporal in Company H, 301st Infantry Division Regiment 94th Division until 1946.27,28 He was an informant to the death of Michael Francis Mitchell, his father, on 9 February 1951 at St. Agnes Hospital, White Plains, New York; from a massive cerebral emboli and heart failure lasting two days due to chronic myocarditis and fibrillation and general arteriosclerosis.29,30,31 Thomas J. Mitchell was a clerk for A & P Food chain for most of his life and retired in 1975 at White Plains, New York.32,33 Thomas was was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist church.34
     Thomas died on 15 January 1989 at 9 Harmon Street, White Plains, New York, at age 78 from arteriosclerosic heart disease.6,8,7 He was buried on 18 January 1989 at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Greenburg, New York.35

     Frank filled out a military census form on 8 March 1917 in Connecticut. The Connecticut “Military Census” was taken in 1917–1918 at the direction of the General Assembly with an eye to assessing manpower available for war and other resources in the state. The census included surveys on agriculture, factories, and even automobiles, but the forms included here are questionnaires filled out by men ages 16 and over. The census was much more than a simple name count, and these questionnaires asked for details in a number of areas: name, post office address, trade or profession, agemarital status, number of dependents, citizenship,military service, and physical disability.They also asked men to report on various skills, including whether they could ride a horse or drive a team, ride a motorcycle, operate a wireless, handle a steam engine or a boat, or swim well.
     His card showed that he was 51 years old, 5' 5 1/2" tall, weighing 155 lbs. He was not a citizen of the United States at that time nor had he taken out papers to become one. He did not know how to ride a horse or handle a team, could not drive or swim, and did not have experience with electrical machinery, among other things. He was a widower with 5 dependents.25 Frank was a carpenter with experience in painting in March 1917 at Waterbury.26
